Tools for Families :: July

For every one hour we have your children on a Sunday morning, you have them for an additional seventy-five! Imagine the opportunities you have to further teach and impress the lessons they are learning at church each weekend. We believe that parents are the primary spiritual developers of their children and that is why we want to partner with you! We want to help you in this journey of preparing your children to change their world’s for Christ. Here are some tools that we recommend for your family:

GodTime Books (for kids)
Four weekly devotions to focus kids’ attention as they spend time reading the Bible and talking to God at home. Designed for older kids to do on their own; for younger kids to do with a parent. GodTime books are sent home weekly at Beach House. We encourage kids to bring their GodTime books back to Beach House, signed by a parent, to be eligible to win a prize! GodTime Books can also be found in the resource section of our website!
Week 1 :: Week 2 :: Week 3 :: Week 4

Fridge Door Cards (for parents)
A weekly update for parents that gives them the virtue, memory verse, Bible story, bottom line (key concept for the week), and a question for kids (and parents) to talk about on the way home or during a meal. Use these to stay up to date on what your child(ren) is learning at Beach House! Fridge Door cards are also sent home weekly at Beach House and are also available under the resource section on our website!
Week 1 :: Week 2 :: Week 3 :: Week 4

Family Forums (for parents)
Located on the backside of the Fridge Door Cards. The Family Forum is a weekly devotional activity for families to do together! By following this activity, you will read through the Bible passage that was taught on the weekend and give your family the opportunity to discuss what they have learned. Family Forums also include discussion questions to help reach deeper understanding of the Bible Lesson and Virtue. Family Forums are also available on HDC Kids Website.

Virtue Packs (for families)
Virtue Packs are designed to help equip parents with easy to use tools to make the most of everyday moments with their children. This tool is based on the biblical model that teaches that the home should be the primary place where a child learns about God.

Here’s what the bible says to parents about teaching virtues to their children…

“Impress them upon your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up,” (Deuteronomy 6:7).

FamilyTimes™ Virtue Packs provide activities to be used once a week during each of these four family times–MealTime, DriveTime, BedTime, and MorningTime. All of this is designed to give parents simple ways to help their kids grow in faith and character. In addition to these activities, an audio parenting news magazine is included on the DriveTime CD. Virtue Packs can be purchased for $12 in the Island each month!
